For two or three years, coinciding with the acquisition of the brand by Tata, the British manufacturer has reinvented itself almost completely. After the new versions of the XK range and made new all-aluminum XJ, Jaguar introduced the C-X75 in the last Geneva Motor Show, anticipating the future super-sports brand of the cat. Now, however, the spotlight is on a much more “affordable” sports car that points directly to the waterline models like the Boxster / Cayman or 911 himself, and has credentials that positioned as a serious alternative to the tandem of Stuttgart. Although currently a concept car, you just need to take a look at the images inside to discover that the C-X16 is not far from a possible production version.

Undoubtedly, one of the most striking in the new coupe is the propeller British hiding under the hood. Rather than opt for a powerful V8 as their “cousins” of Aston Martin V12 or decaffeinated like riding the XK, the new C-X16 equipped with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 capable of delivering an output of 380 hp and torque maximum of 450 Nm. So far, no big deal, right? Well wait, because there’s more. The new engine developed by Jaguar mounted an energy recovery system on the brakes very similar to the cars that use KERS in Formula 1. This small electric motor is capable of generating 95 hp and 235 hp Torque Nm additional hit-and-drop for 10 seconds through a button “Push to Pass” button on the steering wheel. The result is par-total of 685 Nm engine, equivalent to 56% higher yields than the engine of the new Porsche 911.

Also, this hybrid system in the C-X16 also allows you to move in all-electric mode as long as not overcome the 80 km / h. The new engine that equips the C-X16 marks the path that will be the new generation of highly efficient engines being developed by Jaguar. In this sense, the 3.0 V6 supercharged the new C-X16 emits only 165 g / km of CO2 into the atmosphere, giving a consumption of only 6.8 l/100 km combined cycle. Undoubtedly, these figures place the new cat as a benchmark in the category, without compromising on sportsmanship is expected of a model with these features. Aesthetically, little can be said of Ian Cullum design not say the images themselves: the new Jaguar C-X16 Concept is spectacular look where you look. Do it or not the proposed new Jaguar only time will tell. The thing certainly promises. The next September 13th will be presented with full honors at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the production still have to wait until well into 2012. The price? Just over € 62,000. Sounds good, right?

The heart that are under the hood remains the same V8 TFSI 4.000cc biturbo, only instead of delivering 520c.v. as in the S8, now offers a power 420c.v. and 550nm of torque between 1,400 and 5.300rpm both the normal version as Avant. Here consumption is reduced by 14%, leaving the figure of 8.7 l/100 km (1.5 l/100 km less than the generation 997), while emissions are within the 205 g / km .

In terms of performance, the Porsche 911 Carrera equipped with PDK can go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.6 seconds (a figure that is reduced by 0.2 if you opt for the Sport Chrono Package) . Meanwhile, the 911 Carrera S with PDK equipped low records Carrera version until 4.3 seconds (4.1 with the Sport Chrono package). I hate to think what the 911 Turbo will be able to drive all four wheels. Currently there are no official data on speed, but is expected to easily exceed 300 km / h.

Part of the success in the significant improvement in efficiency corresponds to the least weight of all: thanks to extensive use of aluminum and steel in the body, has been reduced 45 kilos in weight over the previous generation. However, what is most surprising is that the new Porsche 991 has grown in virtually all dimensions, despite which the engineers have managed to lower the weight significantly (I do not think it will be able to get updates when they submit GT2 and GT3 RS). You see, by reducing the weight of the whole and a renewed range of engines where benefits have been as important as efficiency levels, Porsche has succeeded in reducing emissions and consumption (by 16% on average at least ) without penalizing performance. Elements such as start / stop, direction and electro-mechanical aerodynamics have only worked to help get these figures, although one of the key elements in this regard has also been the new manual seven relations with some developments significantly longer in 6 th and 7 th to help move fast at low revs. Along with the manual transmission, Porsche also offers the familiar PDK double-clutch seven relationships as well.

The interior is another element where more changes are. The most important of which undoubtedly is the introduction of a center console that extends into the center of the cabin and the area between the two front seats. For those with good memory, a configuration is quite reminiscent of the Porsche Panamera and the Carrera GT, and makes the interior of the 911 in a much more immersive. For the Spanish market, the base model of Porsche 911 Carrera will by € 99,393, while the Carrera S 400 hp goes up to € 115,456. Unlike the previous generation, now there will be no excuses for opting for the PDK dual-clutch: the price difference between it and the seven relations manual is only 25 €, a figure certainly acceptable when it comes to a model priced at six figures. In short, we have a new 911 wider, lower, longer, lighter, more powerful, faster and more efficient, which has managed to keep spiritualism and the original lines of the model, but not so stop looking at future.
