Rinspeed sQuba Concept – ‘08 Geneva Preview

Rinspeed made an official announcement about its presence at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next week. After many photos and informations about a convertible submersible, they will finally unveil the sQuba Concept. The sQuba is based on the Lotus Elise and is inspired from a James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me.

The submersible is an electric car and it needs three engines to keep moving, one for land-driving and two others to move underwater. For swimming it also needs two Seabob jet-drives that helps maneuvering the sQuba.

Now, we have to explain why is a submersible, convertible. Well, because of the safety of the passengers in case of they won’t be able to get out of the car on time if something goes wrong, and the other motive is that the sQuba would have need a couple of extra tons to compensate the volume of air inside the cockpit.

You all must wonder how the passengers will breath underwater – an on-board breathing system is the answer for that. The concept also features salt-water resistance, super high-friction diamond abrasive materials to keep you stuck to the seat and for the exterior they prepared lightweight AEZ 17-inch wheels in the front and 18-inch in the back.

PROTON Hybrid Mass Production in 2011

National car company, Proton Bhd plans launching a large-scale production of hybrid cars by 2011, said managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Syed Mohamed Tahir yesterday.He said the program was developed through joint ventures with subsidiaries based in Britain, Lotus, and several other components suppliers such as battery manufacturers.

“We have a team specialized in Lotus to develop and test the car using Lotus technology. I tested the car two weeks ago and I am impressed with it,” he told Malaysian media in conjunction with the Thailand International Motor Exhibition, here.

Before that, Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Suthep Thaugsuban launched the expo was briefed about the project in Thailand and Proton’s latest model, Exora.Syed Zainal said, some hybrid cars Exora currently tested in Britain and will be sent to Malaysia at the end of this month or early next year.

Lotus Evora a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6

Smart Fortwo Electric Mini Car Concept design by Lotus Team

Behold, the next history on a proposal from concept for a mini all-electric car of the lotus. However, which makes this project be held outside of the concepts independently called usual is the fact that it was really conceived by Lotus. Renderings Of 2009 Lotec Sirius

As for Lotec Sirius supercar fans, they must already know that this supercar model already on the track since year 2000.

Since the early 2000’s the Lotec Sirius supercar has been in the works. It was designed after the former Group C2 champion Kurt Lotterschmid promised that he would create a supercar that would have the ability to take on some of the best supercars from around the world.

The original one was created with a twin turbocharged 6.0 liter V12 engine from Mercedes-Benz and was able to produce 850 to 1,200 horsepower depending on the different specifications. It has taken many years and numerous delays in production – but Lotec said this week that they are finally ready to release a Sirius in 2009 that has been updated accordingly.

In order to give us a sneak peek at what is to come they have provided us with some renderings. Because the V12 is not available as much as it was when the previous model was made we assume that the output will be lower. It will however be keeping the carbon fiber body and tubular steel frame. This will help the Sirius to weigh in at 3,000 pounds.

As for performance we hope that it will be the same – if not better – than the previous model. Reports state that it has the ability to rev from 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 242 mph. Let’s cross our fingers and hope we get to see it in Geneva this year.I bet a lot of cool cars around this year.

Amazing Aspen White Lotus Exige Photoshoot

On May 20, I had the privilege of photographing an Aspen White Exige. Now, I’ve photographed Ferrari Enzos, a Maserati MC12 and a McLaren F1, but so far no photoshoot has excited me more than with this Lotus. It is quite literally my dream car; the car, the color, the be-all end-all for me. Now nothing can top this photoshoot but a photoshoot with two of them.

The weather was pretty dismal at first, but as I was shooting, I realized the beads of water on a white car with a blue background was exactly what I needed to get the cohesive feel I was looking for.

Anyway. Hope you all dig it. It is my largest series to date; just eclipsing the Audi R8’s eighteen photos.

See the best photos of upcoming Lotus Eagle – an Elise based 2 + 2 sports car. The production edition will be revealed in July at the London show, and sales will begin towards the end of the 2008.

Basically a stretched version of the extremely successful roadster, the hard top Eagle features room in the back for 2-small passengers and exchanges the Elise’s 4-cylinder engine for a Toyota’s 3.5L V6 engine.
