General Motors has dropped a December 31 deadline for Saab bids and will soon restart production of certain models to the pleasure of the Swedish brand’s employees, dealers, interested buyers and of course, the automaker’s fans. However, this doesn’t mean that GM will not be closing down the brand if it doesn’t find a suitable buyer.
“We are preparing the wind-down process. At the same time we are open to options, to bids that come in. Therefore the deadline has also been dropped,” said Saab spokesman Eric Geers.

The new V8 will not only be more powerful than the V10, but also more compact in size, lighter in weight and more fuel efficient with lower CO2 emissions.
Along with the new powerplant, the 2011 M5 will get a re-engineered version of the BWM M3’s seven-speed twin-clutch transmission (DCT), and hopefully for purists, a classic manual gearbox.
As with every other product bearing the M badge, the 5-Series-based model will benefit from suspension, brake and steering system upgrades to further improve handling and driver’s feedback.

BMW will present in January in Detroit Auto Show to two very interesting car model.The first are their new redesigned Z4 sDrive35is, and secondly the concept of the BMW 1 Series electrical, activeE.
In the case of the Z4, the firm is presented with the 3.0-liter engine, which has been updated with a less strict intake manifold and two more pressure turbos. It has 340 hp, 450 Nm (500 Nm with overboost), and goes from 0 to 100 in 4.8 seconds. The technology comes from BMW Twin Turbo and direct fuel injection (High Precision Injection).
The Sport automatic gearbox DKG dual clutch gear changes without interrupting the transmission of force. In addition, the driver can choose between fully automatic mode or manual mode.
The changes from the previous model include the recalibration of the electric steering, adaptive suspension that lowers the car 10 mm height, a new set of wheels 18 and 19 inch M Sport aerodynamic kit.
The M Sport Package is combined with M aerodynamic package and the M chassis automatic electronic adjustment of the damping. This coupling makes the model is less comfortable but much more sporty.

The English firm of Aston Martin supercars few days ago presented the first official images of their new model the Cygnet. This as we see not only a redesigned Toyota IQ, but if we look in detail we can detect the fine hand of Aston in redesigning it. The work is really very interesting.

Ford presented several months ago a new variant of the Focus range III, this is called X-Road, and as the name is the most adventurous of all. With the same Ford joins the fashion of the variants with talent that exists in the SUV market. This model derives from the familiar version, the Sportbreak.

For the first time in many years, BMW will offer American consumers the choice of a six-cylinder engine for its flagship 7-Series sedan. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through BMW’s 6-speed automatic transmission.
Buyers will have a choice of several options and packages to upgrade the 2011 740i and 740iL including the M Sport, Driver Assistance, Luxury Seating, Rear Entertainment, and even the BMW Individual Composition Package.
Following a supposed leak on Facebook and twitter, several outlets and blogs such as Inside Line and Autoblog, which had already been tipped off under-the-table by FoMoCo, confirmed that the 2011 Mustang GT will get a new 5.0-liter V8 engine delivering a respectable 412 ponies. The new powerplant will replace the Neolithic 4.6-liter V8 unit with its pathetic -for an engine of this size and this era- output of 315-horsepower.
In comparison, the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS gets a 426HP 6.2-liter V8 while the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8, a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 with 425 ponies.
Do the math, and Ford’s V8 makes 82.4 HP per liter, GM’s V8 churns out 68.7 HP per liter and Chrysler’s Hemi, 69.7 HP per liter.
Unless Ford plans to hold back until the year 2020 and surprise our kids the next generation of Mustang owners, we assume that, unlike the current GT which gets 5-speed transmissions, the new V8 engine will be coupled to 6-speed gearboxes in both manual and automatic forms.
