2011 Ford Mustang GT

Following a supposed leak on Facebook and twitter, several outlets and blogs such as Inside Line and Autoblog, which had already been tipped off under-the-table by FoMoCo, confirmed that the 2011 Mustang GT will get a new 5.0-liter V8 engine delivering a respectable 412 ponies. The new powerplant will replace the Neolithic 4.6-liter V8 unit with its pathetic -for an engine of this size and this era- output of 315-horsepower.

In comparison, the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS gets a 426HP 6.2-liter V8 while the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8, a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 with 425 ponies.

Do the math, and Ford’s V8 makes 82.4 HP per liter, GM’s V8 churns out 68.7 HP per liter and Chrysler’s Hemi, 69.7 HP per liter.

Unless Ford plans to hold back until the year 2020 and surprise our kids the next generation of Mustang owners, we assume that, unlike the current GT which gets 5-speed transmissions, the new V8 engine will be coupled to 6-speed gearboxes in both manual and automatic forms.

We remind you that at last month’s LA Auto Show, FoMoCo unwrapped the 2011 Mustang V6 with a new 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine producing 305-horsepower.

Dodge Charger 2011

Due to the avalanche of news that emerged a few days ago the new Chrysler Group, by Fiat, the most prominent and interesting that emerged is the first image of the new Charger, a model that the firm renovated a few years ago (under Daimler) and did not taste almost anything (quality, design, etc.)..

The image provided Chrysler (see below) only shows the side of the model. It succeeded in much speculation and it is thought that its design was based on the Charger Concept 99 (see images below), but this is something that still remains in doubt.

The recreation that you see above is the work of Left Lane. Unfortunately this is only a superficial renovation of the current model, which if you look in detail at the official image we can see that the changes are more profound and interesting than we proposed this page.

In the front only change in the optics, and the design of the cowling. On the side we appreciate the sharper waistline, which continues to the bottom. And in the back we see a new trunk, optical, and bottom.

If this is the model proposed by the new Chrysler disappoint everyone (me too), and especially people who are fanatic about this model. Particularly I think the model is more like the concept of 99, as their waist line and rather high (muscle) makes me notice this. What is your opinion ‘?

Opel Insignia Buick Regal mid-size sport sedan from GM

“The transformation of Buick began with our luxury crossover, the Buick Enclave and continued this year with the launch of the 2010 LaCrosse premium sedan,” said Susan Docherty, Buick GMC General Manager. “We’re thrilled to announce that the Regal will be the next member of the Buick family.”

GM said that even though the Regal name has been out of the market for the past six years it continues to be one of the top Buick nameplates recalled by consumers.

Before entering bankruptcy and the decision to either sell or close its Saturn business (GM recently announced the death of the brand after negotiations broke down with Penske Automotive), the Detroit automaker had planned to replace the Aura with the Insignia.

General Motors did not say when the Regal will go on sale in the States, but buyers should expect to see the sleek sedan arriving at dealerships sometime towards the end of 2010 or early 2011. Engine options will most likely include 4-cylinder turbocharged units as well as a V6.

And what’s that we hear you say about a Buick Regal GNX? Well, your guess is as good as ours, but the recent introduction of the European Opel Insignia OPC that packs an all-wheel drive system and a 325HP 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 means that a sporty GNX model is completely feasible.

The Opel Insignia is also offered in Europe as a five-door liftback and a sleek-looking station wagon called Sports Tourer, but we wouldn’t hold our breath for an American release for neither model.
