Cars Peek: 2011 BMW M5 using Twin-Turbocharged V8

BMW already introduce their next generation 5-Series sedan, BMW and, its M division,currently is now concentrating on the development of their new version of the series.When a Twin-Turbocharged V8 installed inside a BMW,In the X5M and X6M, the bi-turbocharged unit produces an output of 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 680Nm or 501-lbs/ft of peak torque, available between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. In comparison, the current M5′s naturally aspirated V10 makes 507HP and 520Nm or 383-lbs/ft of peak torque.

Details on the new M5′s engine specs remain scarce, though it has been suggested that the direct-injection V8 may be further honed, boosting output closer to the 600HP mark.

The new V8 will not only be more powerful than the V10, but also more compact in size, lighter in weight and more fuel efficient with lower CO2 emissions.

Along with the new powerplant, the 2011 M5 will get a re-engineered version of the BWM M3′s seven-speed twin-clutch transmission (DCT), and hopefully for purists, a classic manual gearbox.

As with every other product bearing the M badge, the 5-Series-based model will benefit from suspension, brake and steering system upgrades to further improve handling and driver’s feedback.

New 320d EfficientDynamics Edition that will be presented for the first time at next month’s 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Based on the 320d, the EfficientDynamics Edition is claimed to be the most fuel-efficient and lowest-emission car in BMW’s current model range with a combined fuel consumption of 4.1 lt diesel/100km, which is equal to 57.4mpg US or 68.9 mpg UK, and a CO2 rating of 109g/km in the EU test cycle.

The car pictured here is the same model as the Z4 35i with the N54B30 straight-six engine found in large number of modern BMW’s which slot in just below their M counterparts in performance.

Like the vast majority of road cars, the Z4 is not quite at home on a track, but that didn’t stop photographer Balázs Feny? from shooting it against the walls of the pitlane at the Euro-ring. His pictures reveal an intricate play of lines and surfaces, quite water-like on this Interlagos Blue example.
